Switching from Jewel360 to WJewel: A Jewelry POS Migration Guide

Jewel360 is a capable jewelry POS, and plenty of stores start on it. The stores that move to WJewel usually do so for one of a handful of reasons: they need repairs, memo or serialized inventory without moving up a plan, they have opened a second location, they also wholesale or manufacture, or they want their accounting in the same system as the counter. If that is where you are, this guide covers what to export, what carries over, the few things that need a decision, and how the cut-over day works. For the feature-by-feature and price-by-price view, see WJewel vs Jewel360.

Why Stores Move from Jewel360

Before You Start: Three Things to Check

  1. Your Jewel360 agreement. Look for the term and any notice period before you choose a cut-over date, so you are not paying for two systems longer than you need to.
  2. Your card processing. If you take cards through Jewel360’s integrated payments, the processor changes with the POS. WJewel has integrated payment processing, and we set it up before go-live.
  3. Your website. If your website is built on Jewel360’s website editor, decide where it will live after the switch. WJewel connects your inventory to Shopify, BigCommerce or your own custom website.

What to Export from Jewel360

You own your data. Ask Jewel360 for a full export, and ask for it early — getting the data out is usually the slowest part of any switch. At a minimum, bring:

Spreadsheets are fine. WJewel imports from Excel in any format, so the columns do not need to match ours; we map them.

What Carries Over, and What Changes

The Switch, Step by Step

  1. A short call. We look at what you run on Jewel360 today and what you want to add, and agree a cut-over date.
  2. You request the export. We tell you exactly what to ask Jewel360 for.
  3. We map and import it. Inventory, customers, history and open items go into WJewel, and you check a sample of pieces, customers and open repairs against Jewel360.
  4. Training. Unlimited, with no hour caps, while Jewel360 is still running — and again later for new hires.
  5. Cut-over. Pick a slow day. Take a final export of anything that changed since the first one, and ring the next sale on WJewel. Most retail stores are live in one business day.
  6. Keep Jewel360 read-only for a few weeks, if your agreement allows, in case you want to look something up.

FAQs

Can I move my data from Jewel360 to WJewel?
Yes. You own your data. Ask Jewel360 for a full export of your customers, inventory and history, and WJewel imports it as part of onboarding — including serialized pieces, open repairs, layaways and special orders.

How long does switching from Jewel360 take?
Most retail stores are live on WJewel in one business day once their data is in. The time that varies is getting the export out of the old system, so ask for it early.

Do I have to re-tag my inventory?
Usually not. Your existing barcodes and item numbers carry over, so the tags in your cases keep scanning.

Does WJewel work with Stuller and Jewelers Mutual like Jewel360?
Yes. WJewel has a Stuller API integration that works with your own Stuller login, and you can sell a Jewelers Mutual plan with the sale.

What happens to my card processing?
WJewel has integrated payment processing in the POS. We set it up before you go live, so the first sale on WJewel is taken on WJewel.

Will I lose my open repairs and layaways?
No. Repairs in progress, open layaways and special orders move with their deposits, balances and status, so nothing a customer is waiting for is lost.
