WJewel vs The Edge: a side-by-side look for jewelry stores
The short answer
Both are built for jewelers. The Edge is Windows software installed on your own PCs and server, in use since 2002. Its prices are not published: it is licensed per store and per user, with a mandatory annual service fee and a one-year contract that renews automatically. Support is on weekdays, with emergency evening and Saturday hours, and its cloud version is in beta.
WJewel has been building jewelry software for 39 years, since 1987, and its US-based support answers 365 days a year. It runs in any browser — PC, Mac, iPad and phones, no server — and is as low as $159/month billed annually ($179 month to month), with no setup fee, a 30-day free trial and no long-term contract.
New in WJewel: A.I. that reads your vendor invoices and fills in the bill, A.I. model photos of your pieces, a customer portal and quick self check-in on a counter tablet.

What a jewelry store actually pays — and signs
WJewel
WJewel is as low as $159/month billed annually, or $179/month paid month to month. There is no setup fee: setup, data migration from The Edge or any other system, and training are part of getting started, and training and support stay unlimited after you go live. There is no long-term contract — pay annually, or month to month and cancel any time — and you can try it free for 30 days first. Contact us for pricing details: (646) 578-8300 or see the pricing page.
The Edge
The Edge does not publish its prices; it says it is priced per store and per user, and its pricing page offers a demo rather than a figure. Its published terms (last updated July 2026) describe a licence for a set number of stations, with the first year of Service — support, updates and fixes — included, and active Service mandatory to keep using the software after that. The term is one year and renews automatically unless you give written notice at least 60 days before it ends, and the renewal Service fee can rise by up to 5% a year. Data conversion is included only if your order form says so, and training beyond the intro class and three training vouchers, on-site training and travel are extra. There is no free trial.
The comparison that matters
Ask The Edge for a written quote covering the licence for every station you need, the yearly service fee, data conversion and training — then compare it with WJewel’s $159 a month, which already includes support, updates, migration and unlimited training. Book a demo and we will price your store on the call.
New in WJewel
WJewel keeps adding to the program you already pay for. These are among the newest features, released in the fall of 2026.

A.I. Reads Your Vendor Invoices
Attach a vendor’s invoice to a new bill — a PDF, a scan or a phone photo — and A.I. reads it, checks that it is from the right vendor and that the lines add up to the total, and types the invoice number, terms, charges and every line into the bill. You check it and save.

A.I. Model Photos
Turn a style’s product picture into a realistic photo of the piece being worn — on a hand, at the neckline, on an ear or a wrist — for your website and social media, without a photo shoot.

The Edge Not listed (retail)
The Edge entries are taken from The Edge’s own website — its product, system requirements, support, about and terms and conditions pages — as of November 2026. “Not listed” means The Edge does not list it there, not that it cannot be done. Product names and trademarks are the property of their respective owners; this page is published by Ishal Inc. and is not endorsed by The Edge. Features, prices and terms change — verify them with each vendor before you buy.
Where it runs
WJewel runs in Chrome, Safari and other browsers on PC, Mac, iPad, iPhone and Android phones and tablets, with nothing to install, and there are iOS and Android apps. There is no server in the back room to buy, back up or replace: your data is in the cloud, so you can look up a customer from home, ring up a sale on the floor from a phone, or open a second store without a new network. Cloud vs desktop jewelry POS.
The Edge lists Windows PCs: a server with at least 16 GB of memory and workstations with at least 8 GB, connected over the store’s network, with tablets running full Windows. Internet is needed for multi-store. Its cloud version is offered as a beta.
What jewelry store owners say
WJewel is rated 4.8 out of 5 on Capterra from 72 verified reviews, with 4.9 for customer service. Reviewers most often single out how quickly support answers, ease of use and value. The criticism worth knowing about: a few reviewers wanted more customization and more accounts receivable reports.

Support & switching from The Edge
WJewel
US-based phone and email support is open 365 days a year. Training is unlimited, with no hour caps and no vouchers, before and after you go live. Need something the program does not do? We do custom programming on request, and the WJewel API lets your own developers add customers and look up inventory.
Moving from The Edge: we move your customers, inventory, vendors, open layaways and repair history ourselves, as part of onboarding, at no extra charge — you do not export spreadsheets and hope. Most retail stores are live in one business day. Read how to switch jewelry POS systems.
The Edge
The Edge lists support Monday to Friday, 9:00 AM to 5:30 PM Eastern, with emergency support on weekday evenings until 9:30 PM and on Saturdays from 10 to 6, and holiday-season hours in late November and December. Training is a three-day class at its office in Shelton, Connecticut, or self-paced webinars, with advanced courses after that.
